MEETING BETWEEN CESP AND THE LIBE COMMITTEE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Today, the General Secretary of CESP, Jesus Lira Calvo, had a meeting with the Vice President of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament, Ms. Maite Pagazaurtundúa. The meeting was also attended by the Parliamentarian of the Basque Popular-Citizens Group, José Manuel Gil Vegas.

The purpose of this meeting was presentation of CESP mission and vision as an oldest union organization in Europe to the LIBE Commission as well as CESP 2025 Project, which covers 14 police topic among which education, training, migration, human rights, new criminal phenomena, suicide in the police field, violence against policemen, corruption, the development of a European police statute, etc. The CESP General Secretary also elaborated the conclusions of the meetings of the CESP Anticrime Committee in relation to cybercrime.

As an extremely important conclusion of the meeting was the establishment of a frequent communication channel between both institutions in order to facilitate and promote public security and socio- labor rights of police officers in Europe as a basis for a closer collaboration in the forthcoming period.
